Practical info
We welcome you every day between 9 and 5h at Museumstraat 1 in Amsterdam. Admission is free up to 19 years of age, but it is already fun from the age of 4.
Opening hours and prices
It is our pleasure to welcome you! We open our doors for you every day of the year from 9am to 5pm, including all public holidays.
Shop, café and gardens
The Shop and The Café are open from 9 am to 6 pm. These are only accessible with an entrance ticket to the museum until 5 pm. Between 5 and 6 pm you can enter without an entrance ticket.
RIJKS restaurant is open on Wednesday to Sunday for lunch and on Tuesday to Sunday for dinner.
The green gardens around the museum are only open during summer. Opening hours are from 9 to 18h.

- Adults: €25
- Free for ages 18 and under
- Free for Friends of the Rijksmuseum
- Free for holders of Amsterdam City Card I, ICOM, Vereniging Rembrandt, KOG, VVAK, VriendenLoterij VIP-KAART
- Half-price for CJP and EYCA members: €11,25
Start time and tickets
All visitors are required to book a start time.
- This applies to everyone, also with a Museum Card. Only Friends of the museum and pass holder of an ICOM or ICOMOS can come without booking ahead. Do bring your pass with you during your visit. It will be checked at the entrance.
- The start time indicates the start of your visit.
- Once inside you can stay as long as you want during opening hours.
- We recommend buying your tickets in advance online to ensure entry at the desired time. A limited number of tickets are also available at the museum entrance, while stocks last.
If you’re unable to make it on the booked date, or if you’d like to visit the Rijksmuseum on a different date, please let us know via this page. If there’s an open time slot on your preferred dates, we can rebook your ticket(s). It’s our goal to give as many people as possible the chance to visit the Rijksmuseum.
Groups
Groups are welcome at the Rijksmuseum. Book your online group ticket in advance.
Cashless
In the whole museum you can only pay with your favourite digital payment method, with pin or credit card. This applies to all shops and catering outlets.
Address and directions
The Rijksmuseum is located in Amsterdam’s museum quarter and is easy to get to by public transport, car and bicycle. Hop-on hop-off tours by canal boat or bus also stop close to the Rijksmuseum.

By car
It’s quite an easy ride to the Rijksmuseum in central Amsterdam. And even easier if you plan your route in advance.
Parking
Paid parking is available close to the museum and there are various disabled parking spaces nearby. There’s a Q-Park Museumplein underground car park close by at Van Baerlestraat 33b.
Park & Ride (P+R)
Cheaper parking is available at P+R facilities around the city. You can then continue your journey to the Rijksmuseum by public transport.
- P&R ArenA: take the metro to Weesperplein and then tram 7. Get off at the ‘Spiegelgracht’.
- P&R Zeeburg: take tram 26 to ‘Rietlandpark’ then transfer to tram 7. Get off at the ‘Spiegelgracht’.
